Our beautiful rolled dinner candles are the perfect centrepiece to any table, and a gorgeous addition to any mantlepiece or side table. However, due to their nature (being rolled sheets of beeswax), they aren't taper candles and are a little more needy when it comes to preparation for candle sticks or candelabras. This blog post will give you a quick overview of how to prepare these candles to best enjoy them!

You will need:

  • A rolled beeswax dinner candle

  • A hairdryer

  • Baking paper

Step one:

Pop a sheet of baking paper on a table, and grab your hairdryer. Place the candle on the baking paper and be aware that if your hairdryer is too hot, the wax will melt (so the baking paper will protect the table)

Step two:

Use your hairdryer on a medium heat setting: wax melts at 60 degrees so you don't want it really really hot, and you want to keep the hairdryer at a reasonable distance. We want the wax malleable, not melted. When the wax is warm, roll it firmly with the flat of your hand, shaping the wax into a taper. This will take time and possibly a couple of warm-throughs to reach the desired diameter. You're aiming for roughly 2cm across at the bottom of the taper.

Note: be aware that this process will impact and misshape the beeswax hexagon shape, so only roll the very end of the candle, just enough to fit into a candle holder.

Step three:

Enjoy your candle in a candle holder!
